Medafor Signs Distribution Agreement with Abbott Animal Health, a Division of Abbott Laboratories
Abbott to Sell Medafor's HemaBlock™ Worldwide

Minneapolis, Minn., June 10, 2002 — Medafor, Inc., a market innovator in the development of advanced hemostasis and wound management technology, announced today that it has signed an exclusive, multi-year agreement with Abbott Laboratories for the distribution of HemaBlock™ “Stop the Bleed” to the veterinary market in the United States and worldwide.

HemaBlock™, is a microporous, polysaccharide powder hemostat based on Medafor’s patented microsphere technology. HemaBlock™ will be marketed to veterinarians for surgical, dental and critical care applications, providing a breakthrough hemostatic alternative which may result in faster procedural completion times and less discomfort for the patient animal versus current methods of hemostasis.
