Medafor Signs Distribution Agreement with Emergency Medical Products (EMP)
National Leader in the Pre-Hospital Market to Sell Medafor's TraumaDEX™ in the U.S.
Minneapolis, Minn., February 12, 2002 -- Medafor, Inc., a market innovator in the development of advanced hemostasis and wound management technology, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Emergency Medical Products, Inc. (EMP), a national leader in the distribution of emergency medical equipment and supplies. Wisconsin-based EMP will sell Medafor's MPH™ (Microporous Polysaccharide Hemospheres) technology under the trade name TraumaDEX™ to its large customer base of EMS agencies and fire departments throughout the United States.
TraumaDEX, a biopolymeric, microporous powder which produces rapid hemostasis, was recently granted approval by the FDA for use by doctors and medical services personnel for the temporary control of severe bleeding. The agreement with EMP will make TraumaDEX available to a broad, national user base of emergency medical professionals, demonstrating Medafor's strong commitment to delivering its technology to the pre-hospital market.
"Medafor has created a revolutionary approach to bleeding control with its TraumaDEX product," said Jaime Reed, President of EMP. "Adding TraumaDEX to our lineup enables us to deliver a breakthrough in technology and practice to paramedical professionals, who rely on us to provide them with superior offerings. We believe that the unprecedented hemostatic properties of TraumaDEX will make a difference in our customers' work and in the lives of their patients."
Richard Zerban, Medafor's CEO stated, "EMP has been a highly respected organization in the EMS market for the past 27 years. Their sales and customer support efforts, including a widely-circulated, extensive catalog and a sophisticated e-commerce web site, will help our company get maximum exposure and distribution for TraumaDEX. We're thrilled to have EMP as a strategic channel partner and look forward to very positive results from this alliance."
